 Hmm, there are some workarounds out there, which usually amount to 
 using a media proxy to transcode the videos in realtime...  but that 
 seems like a waste of cycles when you could do it once.  Like it or not, 
 HTML5 is here to stay.

 Assuming you have some  sort of CMS to handle changes in HTML, you 
 could just transcode the FLV's to h.264 and leave the embedded FLV as a 
 fallback.  ffmpeg is a great tool for this, and anyone with some 
 bash-scripting chops should be able to batch process your videos.

 The h.264 section of this page will give you the arguments you need for 
 a good starting off point, as well as the html with the flv fallback.
