Back in the day there was a wireless access point thing that you could use to bridge networks if you had a line of sight view. You'd take this thing and point it at the other one (kind of like how a microwave antenna works), and then it would bridge the networks. Don't know if such technology is still used, but its how my department had a network in two of our buildings for a long time. This one was made by lucent.
