[Hidden-tech] Facebook e-commerce

Hey Jeff,

We've had good experience with http://www.payvment.com/facebook/. We've also
used other apps but have come back to this.

The pricing features are strong and allows businesses to discount to those
liking their pages, automatically give fans discounts if desired, and asks
non-fans to click the like button.

What's also cool is customers can shop on other pages using Payvment and
keep stuff in their carts from store to store, so it is good for strategic
relationships, cross-promotions and a somewhat usual experience. The app
also has categories, works well with images, and best of all, takes no cut
or fees-for now.

That said, we've had better results with customers clicking over to a
well-designed ecommerce site. Could be the better online experience, or
that, despite the fact that getting a deal from businesses is a primary
driver for people liking a business, FB is not where people are comfortable
with, or in the mood for, shopping-again for now. Facebook's poor handling
of privacy issues also spooked some people, regardless of whether their
concerns are valid with respect to ecommerce or not.

Lots of other options-this is pretty slick-and free.

Dan

** Be sure to fill out the survey/skills inventory in the member's area.

** If you did, we all thank you.

Is anyone using Facebook for e-commerce - setting up a store and allowing
people to buy products without ever leaving Facebook?

If so, how do you do that? Are there plug-ins that enable you to easily
build a store within Facebook for e-commerce?

If anyone is doing this yet, please share your experience. Thanks.
