When you say free, I think you mean hosted for free on wordpress.com. The software is free even if you host it elsewhere via wordpress.org. You can change the appearance on a wordpress site you host elsewhere in a couple of mouse clicks. Thousands of choices. (Disclosure: she has been my virtual assistant for 11 years, and hosts my wfies' site). >Wordpress probably is the easiest to use blog out there -- though if >you go with the free version you will be limited in modifying the >appearance/ template. > > >most of the modules that can be added to extend wordpress are >relatively easy to install and use. assuming they work in the first >place; wordpress modules are not necessarily well maintained >(compared to Drupal modules). > >some of the cheap webhosts (godaddy & bluehost, for example, which >are on the order of $70-$90 a year for shared hosting) offer a >simple click install of wordpress through cpanel. not hard to do -- >setting up wordpress this way, rather than at ><http://wordpress.org>wordpress.org, will give her access to a wider >array of themes (templates). & some of these themes are more readily >configurable than others (assuming she has no knowledge of css/html >and is using the dashboard interface). > > > > > >Karen Pava Randall ><http://www.karxpava.com>www.karxpava.com ><http://www.propolispress.com/books>www.propolispress.com ><http://www.karenpavarandall.com>www.karenpavarandall.com > > > > >-------- Original Message -------- >Subject: Re: [Hidden-tech] Advice on Weebly & Free websites >From: Shel Horowitz <<mailto:shel at frugalfun.com>shel at frugalfun.com> >Date: Fri, November 19, 2010 8:28 am >To: Shalini Bahl <<mailto:shalini at iam-bc.com>shalini at iam-bc.com> >Cc: HT-discuss Tech ><<mailto:hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net>hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net> > >** Be sure to fill out the survey/skills inventory in the member's area. >** If you did, we all thank you. > > >Makes sense.
