You might want to give Ning groups a try. Ning's fairly easy to set up, and there are a lot of options for how you want to create your community: closed or open, different kinds of registration criteria, individual as well as group blogs, ability to post multi-media. I belong to several Ning groups run by professional organizations and while there's a similar look, all are very different. And you do not need to stick with the ".ning.com" URL--you can have your own .com .org, etc URL too. Now, whether or not people use the network is another matter entirely..... Tish G.
