One of the implementations of OpenPGP, such as GnuPG <http://www.gnupg.org/> (free) or PGP Desktop Email ($164). Getting something that'll work as a plugin to your existing email client depends upon what you're using as an email client. Outlook and Windows Mail (which I see you're using) don't integrate as easily with third-party encryption products, so I'd recommend something like Thunderbird. If you installed Thunderbird or Seamonkey, install Enigmail <http://enigmail.mozdev.org/home/index.php>, which is a security extension for those programs that integrates GnuPG. Similar solutions exist for other popular (non-Microsoft) email clients for Windows, such as Pegasus, Eudora, Claws, and Opera Mail. > Also, have you tried Truecrypt for free file encryption -- and would you > recommend? Yes, this is an excellent program. It is easy to install, has great features, and is very stable. -- Roger Williams <roger at qux.com> Chief Technical Officer, Qux Corporation 433 West Street, Suite 8, Amherst, MA 01002, USA Tel +1 413 253-6400 * Fax +1 508 302-0230 * GSM +1 508 287-1420
