[Hidden-tech] .flac and iTunes

I just got some awesome music from a friend and I need to figure out how to
play the .flac files on my Macbook or iMac.

What I've done so far
1) read online suggestions - either convert or use a plug in for iTunes
2) I'm not interested in converting the files so I downloaded Xiph
3) I followed the instructions to install Ziph (with help)
result: Nothing - Didn't seem to work
4) I shut down iTunes
result: Nope
5) I restarted the computer
result: nada niet nicht

Help!
