Peter, your guess is partly right, getting user and system permissions synced up between those 3 is not easy, Vista being the most difficult. But also, your anti-virus may be causing problems too, I have seen the Comcast supplied McAfee block traffic in these type of situations. I will also throw my hat into the ring, I can help you too.
