Hello all, I have been an avid AVG free edition fan for years 10+ years. It's detection rate if fair and the resources it requires are relatively small. I have had success with AVG as stand alone and also coupled with the free edition of Avira (another great free antivirus program). I usually also run weekly scans of Malwarebytes or Superantispyware free editions to pick up other intrusions. While slightly more work than your typical all in one solution, it is far less taxing on resources in your daily routine.
