[Hidden-tech] Kindle or Nook

My inlaws have a kindle 1 and a kindle 2. I have an ipad, i bought my wife a $150 wifi / e-ink based nook. she loves it.

i would pick a nook over kindle personally because of the book sharing thing. the whole drm thing irks me. i'd like to be able to do what i like with my own books. unfortunately im noticing that not ALL Barnes and Noble books are "lendable" however, so that's something to consider.

The nook B&W has the same e-ink as kindle, and with the latest update turns pages as fast as kindle.

i went with ipad myself because: its more than just a reader in the same package, full color so i dont need a light on at night to read. i currently have 4, count them, ebook vendor's apps on the ipad , each with their own ebookstore so i have more variety. i can actually compare prices on ebooks. i'm not as locked in. these are the two reasons i went ipad. im reading a "lendable" book (atlas shrugged, way overpriced btw) book using B&N Reader on my ipad now , which i will be able to send to my wife's nook when I'm done. (if she wants it but thats another story)

I understand the nook color is android based, which in my mind puts it in the "computer" realm like ipad, as it has capability to run many apps etc (if it is android). i would definitely lean towards that personally, based on my needs, if the ipad didnt have some other draws to justify its large price tag. im not sure which i would have chosen if the nook color was out when i was looking, but i'm not anymore so i am not really up on nook color specs. definitely check it out, sounds great.
