An simply, elegant and free utility called OmniDiskSweeper does a great job
of showing you the largest files on any volume. Deleting one large
application, installer, video or audio file can make much more of a
difference than a gazillion little html help files.

There is also an open source utility called "Monolingual" which will delete
unnecessary language resources from OS X.
