Verizon hasn’t been very good about informing customers about this change.

Hey folks,

Not sure if this will be useful to others on the list, but here ya go.
Verizon Internet services has recently started to block the standard
outgoing email port 25 if you are not using their outgoing email server.

If you use a third-party hosting provider and are having troubles
sending email you should contact them to change your email software to
use an alternate port. Most hosting providers use alternate ports like
587 and for SSL connection port 465.
