[Hidden-tech] Off line Youtube

If you are using IE and the video has been completely played it is stored in
your temporary internet files as a flv file. It can be viewed with a file
player like 'VLC Media Player'. Just copy it out of the temp folder and
rename it. 'VLC Media Player' also provides a converter to save in other
formats.

I find that if you drag a flash video file onto a Firefox browser window, it
will
play the video without any other software. The same may be true of Internet
Explorer, but I haven't tried that one.

If you use Firefox, there are several add-ons that enable you to save videos
from lots of websites. Be warned - the downloaded file will be a *.FLV and
will not be playable in the windows media player or quicktime, so you will
need a different player to few them -- VLC and KMP are both good. VLC is
open-source and plays most video formats.
Some of the firefox video download add-ons will enable to convert the file
from FLV to another format of your choice.

Does anyone know how to play a youtube video offline?
I need to show a clip from a Youtube video where there is not internet
access. Can it be embedded into a powerpoint or would I need some kind of
browser?
Thanks
Fern
