[Hidden-tech] Thunderbird/Firefox issues on Mac

I'm on a Mac and been using Thunderbird as my email client and Firefox 
as my browser for a couple of years and I really like both of them. But 
I'm having a problem with mailto links on both and though I've searched 
all kinds of message boards and listservs, I can't seem to find the 
answer to it.

Here's the thing:

In Thunderbird, if I click on a mailto link in a forwarded message, I 
get a box which says "mailto is not a registered protocol"

In Firefox (3.0.1.0), when I click on a mailto link, I get a Thunderbird 
window to come up, but the email address doesn't show up in the "to" 
line. So I have to copy it from the website and then go back to 
Thunderbird and paste it.

I know this probably has something to do with statements/strings in the 
about:config. But after lots of attempts at trying to fix the problem, I 
still haven't been able to get mailto links to work in either 
Thunderbird or Firefox.

Has anyone out there had the same problems and fixed them???
