[Hidden-tech] Domain registrars?

As a general rule I agree about GoDaddy and steer business elsewhere.
Anecdotally, I'm told their hosting is a bit overloaded and slow by a
couple of clients who have asked to have their hosting transferred
elsewhere.

However, I found their domain backordering service to be quite good,
allowing me to capture a couple of domains that "expired" but which kept
getting temporarily grabbed by other registrars and domain speculators.
And once captured, I've found the domain management tools at GoDaddy to
be pretty good, once I navigate away from the various sales pitches. I
haven't yet had to renew or transfer the captured domains, but do have
calendar reminders set for myself so I won't leave it up to GoDaddy to
remind me in time to renew or transfer them.
