[Hidden-tech] On-site tech support for Ashfield needed

Sounds like a possible virus, since all of a sudden she could not get online.  Not surprising that Dell would suggest a format and reload, the easy way out.  If she doesn't find anyone local to look into this, I would be willing to take a road trip from Chicopee.
