Jeff, I don't know if this is an arts related project, but if it is, you may be able to get free legal assistance through VLA - Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. We got assistance from them some years ago when I started the Hooked on Swing Society of Western Mass. As far as I know there is no national organization but there are chapters by state. The Massachusetts website is: http://www.vlama.org/ I'm not sure but I think there may also be a similar organization in some areas for more general non-profit/NGO assistance.
