[Hidden-tech] Who's tweeting?

I've been on twitter for awhile now--can't say anyone's my "favorite" as it's mostly people I know either professionally or as friends--although a few following me are people I don't know and have no clue why they're following me. Some just follow others for the numbers, similar to the way some people randomly add others to their networks on LinkedIn. (that happens less on Facebook.)

I'm not a fangirl type of person with social media. I think being a "fan" can take away from genuine interaction with others in social media.

However, when characters from the TV series MadMen were on Twitter, it was pretty funny. Interesting how these folks kept "in character" when using Twitter. Unfortunately, they were not authorized by AMC, the network that created the show, which then sent take-down notices. The characters were taken down (or stopped tweeting) for a short time, but when they came back, a lot of the initial "fun" of it all was gone.

I wouldn't nec. recommend a company start "character tweeting" in order to connect with their customers. Few organizations know how to do twitter right, let alone do it right "in character."

Best,

Tish
