:: CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS ::

OUTLOOK for GREEN JOBS in MASSACHUSETTS - Until recently, businesses believed that "going green" or making environmentally conscious investments would hurt the economy. But views on this have shifted radically over the past year, says Robert Pollin, Distinguished Professor of Economics at UMass Amherst. Pollin will discuss research results that show how concerted invesments in clean energy can create tens of thousands of jobs in Massachusetts and millions nationwide.

WHAT ARE GREEN JOBS and WHY DO THEY MATTER? - Bracken Hendricks, co-author of Apollo's Fire: Igniting America's Clean Energy Economy, will discuss the potential for green jobs in the United States and the policies needed to support them. As economic concerns and unemployment numbers continue to rise, clean energy jobs have emerged as a promising way to bolster Massachusetts' economy and get people back into the workforce.

GET TRAINED, GET FUNDED, BUILD YOUR BUSINESS - Three panel sessions will cover key themes: workforce training; business development; and finance strategies for clean energy enterprises. Panelists will tackle tough questions such as: What will green industries look like in the future? What's hot and what's hype? And, what skills do you need to get on board?

THE NEW CLEAN ENERGY LANDSCAPE IN MASSACHUSETTS - State Representative Daniel Bosley, State Senator Benjamin Downing, and Department of Energy Resources Commissioner Phil Giudice will provide insider commentary on the whirlwind of recent legislative activity that has set the stage for a dramatic acceleration of our clean energy economy.

The OPPORTUNITY FAIR - Clean energy, what does it mean to you? How can you get a green job or build your business around energy efficiency and renewable power? On Saturday November 22 career seekers, students, entrepreneurs and business developers will converge on one event: the Clean Energy Connections Opportunity Fair. A limited number of exhibitor tables still available.
