The easiest option at that point would probably be to take out the hard drive and put it into the new computer. You mentioned PCMCIA, which I assume means you have a laptop and probably going to a new laptop. The option that would probably work best for you is to borrow or purchase an external case for a laptop hard drive and then take down the data that way. Something like this, but for circa windows 98, you'd need a PATA interface one instead of SATA. http://www.buy.com/prod/startech-infosafe-2-5-usb-2-0-sata-drive-enclosure-storage-enclosure-1/q/loc/101/204451593.html David andrew bellak wrote: > ** Be sure to fill out the survey/skills inventory in the member's area. > ** If you did, we all thank you. > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > Dear H-T, > > I have a program that I would like to transfer from an old win 98 PC to > an XP PC. > > The challenge has been that the win 98 PC does not have updated drivers > to either connect to the internet via ethernet cable OR use a USB flash > drive (or a PCMCIA internet adapter or an external floppy drive.) > > It's a bit of a chicken and egg situation.
