Friends -

This job is a variation of one that I've been filling on an interim basis.
The permanent position is scheduled to begin July 1, 2008.  I'm happy to
answer questions for experienced fund raisers and folks who may be
considering a transition to a nonprofit career.

The Friends of Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School (PVPA)
seeks a dynamic, results-driven self-starter to grow a comprehensive program
of private philanthropy to support PVPA's academic and arts mission.  The
Manager of Philanthropy will be highly organized, energetic and an
articulate advocate for the school. This position reports to the board of
The Friends of PVPA and works closely with both the Friends board and the
school's board leadership team. Flexible work schedule, full or part time,
possible for outstanding candidates.

Founded in 1996, PVPA is a regional charter public school serving 400
students in grades 7-12 from 60 cities and towns in Western Massachusetts.
PVPA's mission is to offer its students intensive exposure to the performing
arts within the context of an excellent college preparatory curriculum.  PVPA
is located on a scenic 20-acre hilltop campus in South Hadley, MA.  The
school is governed by a 19-member Board of Trustees. An affiliated 501(c)(3)
organization, The Friends of PVPA, purchased the school facility in 2005 and
is responsible for overseeing private fund raising initiatives.


*Qualifications: *

   - 3+ years nonprofit fund raising experience, preferably in an
   education or arts organization *OR* a demonstrated portfolio of highly
   developed transferable skills in sales, marketing, project management and
   communications.
   - Demonstrated record of success managing a portfolio of prospects,
   including personal solicitation.
   - Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills, including
   public speaking and proposal writing.
   - Knowledge of Pioneer Valley philanthropic, corporate, and arts
   communities.
   - Experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers.
   - Excellent planning and organizational skills.
   - High levels of energy and passion for PVPA's mission.
   - Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
