Google can't be trusted on SEO-related search terms because many SEOs
know how to game the results.  For example, if you type in "seo blog"
some of the sites are ranked because they paid other sites to link to
them, not because they have spectacular content or knowledge.

Also, many good SEO companies don't optimize their own Web sites because
the higher-paying clients come from word of mouth or networking, not
search engine referrals.  I think it's better to get a referral for SEO
work than to use Google...

Results depend on the keyword.  Also, there is a lot more traffic in
long-tail keywords than in trying to rank for single keywords.  A good
SEO campaign can help bring traffic for thousands of new keywords.
Those kinds of results generally take 6 to 8 months though.
