Irene, If Steve Unkles at Audio-Visual Archives, or Tom Adams at Reel Life, or Donna at Clio Associates in Florence are still doing film transfers, I recommend checking with them and keeping the work local. I haven't worked with the vendor Amy mentioned on Damon Road in Noho. If your friend can't find a local option, Yes Video in CA offers a range of affordable options, including the creation of a thumbnail index and a music track. www.yesvideo.com Another out of state option is Stefani Twyford at www.legacymultimedia.com I haven't worked with her yet. I can't totally sing the praises of Yes Video because they've made a number of mispelling errors in the text for DVD covers. They've aways been willing to re-do the order, but it's a lot less hassle to call and ask them to verify the spellings before they run the order. This is not easy work to do well, so I'd be very interested in hearing what your friend decides to do and how it turns out. Carlyn Saltman Your Story Matters www.YourStoryMatters.com documentaries & video memoirs (413) 863-4480 If it's actually film, I can't help you. Most places charge by the foot, and it can get expensive. Especially now because so few people actually are doing it. Tom Adams - Do you do film transfers? Audio Visual Archives did some transfers in the past. They are in Florence. I don't know if they still do it.
