Hi H-T folks-- I applied to the Insurance Partnership a year ago and was approved for a sizeable portion of my (very scary) health insurance coverage. They have you fill out a Mass Health application in addition to their own application form--even if you don't qualify for Mass Health it's how they decide how much they can give you towards the insurance that you have. If you are about to lose your current health insurance I would guess they have good advice about what else is available. In my experience the Insurance Partnership is very helpful and pleasant to deal with--they answer questions and return phone calls, they even check up on you if they don't get your paperwork back--and the application process is quick and pretty painless. I don't think it matters what kind of health insurance you have, they pay me directly (by direct deposit) about 5 days before my insurance payment is due, and then I pay the whole amount for the insurance myself. Certainly there's nothing to lose--call them up and explain your situation and they'll help you through the process. Good luck-- Lynne On Feb 29, 2008, at 4:33 PM, Jeanne Yocum wrote: > ** The author of this post was a Good Dobee. > ** You too can help the group > ** Fill out the survey/skills inventory in the member's area. > ** If you did, we all thank you. > > > Hi, all, > > I just received the usual shocking news that I get each year at this > time > about how much the cost of my health insurance will be going up on > April 1. > In talking with my third party administrator about options, I asked a > question about the state's Insurance Partnership, which pays a > portion of > premiums for income-qualified people. > > The woman I talked to told me she has heard about people who have > applied to > the Partnership and been approved even though they make several > thousand > dollars above what is published as the maximum family income to > obtain this > help. > > So her advice was to apply even though you're earning slightly above > what > they say you can earn; you still might be approved!
