I inferred (perhaps mistakenly) that he was talking about $200 for each of two drives, no two floppy diskettes,

I have a huge box full of 3.5 floppies too. I just checked on ebay and you get a 1000 brand new 1.44 MB 3.5 inch floppies in 10-packs for $50 for the whole lot. The 720K are rarer, but you can still get a 10 pack for $10.

720K floppies (the old 'double density,' 3 1/2") are very expensive. My son
needed one for his job a couple years ago. They bought two at $200+ each.
One worked.
