We have had Comcast phone-internet package for 4 years (every since Verizon royally f*'d up our DSL install.... that's $5000 they lost there!). It is quite reliable. If the power goes out, your internet-modem will go down (unless you have it connected to a UPS along with your wireless router perhaps?), the phone-modem will continue to run on batteries for a while. If you have one of those (circa 1995) phone that just plugs into the phone jack vs. having 2.4GHZ wireless/digital answering machine/integrated coffee maker, it will work fine. Ah, the joys of old reliable technology..... I've had that little black AT&T slimline phone for 15+ years; in the same time, 3 or 4 cordless phone/answering machines have died. just my 4.76 cents.... -Garth _____ From: hidden-discuss-bounces at lists.hidden-tech.net [mailto:hidden-discuss-bounces at lists.hidden-tech.net] On Behalf Of Frank Aronson Sent: 07/15/2008 3:50 PM To: CPilch at YourBrandPartnership.com; hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net Subject: RE: [Hidden-tech] Comcast Phone Service We have this service, and while I find it very good and reliable, we live in an area of the world that has no cell phone service. So, when the service goes out, we have no service whatsoever. Even if the modem does have the backup battery, the phone we have connected to it requires juice from the wall. So, when the power goes down, we have no phone service. I don't know if the battery backup powers a standard landline phone that gets power from the phone line. All-in-all, though the service has been good. Just have a backup. Frank Aronson -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
