> Does SKYPE have FCC approval? Don't know, probably not but VoIP doesn't need FCC Approval > Does the FCC have jurisdiction over Internet telelphony? Yes, the FCC has jurisdiction over all things Internet. State level agencies like the Mass DTC do not have jurisdiction over VoIP. That is why anyone and their brother can become a VoIP provider but only a registered CLEC can be a phone provider. The FCC does have mandates for ITSP (Internet Telephony Service Providers) that require 911 functionality and CALEA (wiretapping) support. -Matt > > > Ed > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <ussailis at shaysnet.com> > To: <tomadams at gmail.com>; <hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net> > Sent: Tuesday, January 08, 2008 8:33 PM > Subject: RE: [Hidden-tech] magicjack phone thingy > > > 2. It is simple, but takes a bit of time. Go to fcc.gov then > to OIT > or ENG and look up their approval package.
