Your predicament sounds painful, and I doubt there are many easy 
solutions, and moreover, I imagine that whatever opportunities there 
are are likely to be increasingly over-supplied as the economy at 
large continues its slide. But what do I know...

By coincidence, I came across this page today, which may give you some 
food for thought - just ignore the silly headline. I'm under no 
illusions about how difficult the path is for the vast majority of us, 
and I don't put this in front of you because of the reference to 
"millions" - but a quick survey of the Forbes articles it links to was 
informative, and may stimulate some directions for you to continue 
your searches...
