Doesn't it frost you when you see the Staples truck pull up to the Bangs Center? Or watch the town buy a pick-up truck or a tractor from somewhere besides Classic Chevrolet or Boyden & Perron? Or when town hall meetings feature food and coffee from non-Valley owned restaurants and coffee shops? Hwei-Ling Greeney and I have been trying to figure out how to get more Pioneer Valley Owned businesses more business from Town and Gown purchasing agents. Our biggest question has been how to get local businesses on the right lists and considered for purchasing opportunities. I am excited to report that from 10am until noon on Wednesday March 13th in the Town Room of Town Hall, the purchasing agents from the Town of Amherst and from UMass are going to meet with us to let us know how they procure and how we can get more competitive in winning their business. Attached is an outline Hwei-Ling has proposed. If there are any other aspects you'd like covered, please let us know. I hope you will make time in your busy schedule to be at this important meeting. Please RSVP so we can plan accordingly. THANKS very much for considering this valuable opportunity. Feel free to pass this message on to other local business owners. But know if they are not CoC members they will be hit up for membership! :) Locally yours, CJ Cowls Land and Lumber Company - Manufacturing Lumber and Timbers Since 1741 Award Winning Sustainable Forestry 2005 NHLA Forest Stewardship Award 2007 International Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies Forest Stewardship Award 2007 BASF American Tree Farm System award for Outstanding Achievements in Sustainable Forestry Cinda Jones The Cowls Companies Timberland Management . Attached please see the draft memo to you and the panelists I invited. Please take a look and provide generous feedback. I will try to find a space for this event. Do you still think Lard Jeff is a suitable place? Do they have a big enough room to accommodate 30 or 40 people? Also does the room have the technology capacity to accommodate the panelists? My plan is after you give the feedback I will edit the draft and then send it to the panelists. I need your help with Lord Jeff --if you think it is a good place for the event. In the meantime I will also explore the use of the Town Room. I would like to get ACTV to cover the event. The setup of the Town Room certainly will make the ACTV taping easier. As you can see I am leaning toward the Town Room, but will it be available? Once we clear up everything, I will do my usual press release/publicity. Two questions for you. Please respond: 1.) Can you tell me what is your plan in publicizing this event with the Chamber members----Chamber website, emailing to Chamber members, sending Chamber letter invitation ........etc.? 2.) What is the deadline for each of these avenues? Enjoy the snow. I heard the WinterFest went very well. Congratulations!
