Linda,

iDisk is VERY slow. Any online service will have a slow upload if your
broadband has a capped upload, as do most DSL and Cable services. Your
download speed may be 3Mbps but your upload may only be 300Kbps.

I have been using JungleDisk. I have been VERY happy with it. It is the
front end for Amazon¹s A3 service, where you purchase server space and pay
per kb uploaded/downloaded and stored. It¹s $0.18/GB per month, which makes
it very inexpensive. It¹s still not very fast, but I prefer it to iDisk
which I tried for a few month and gave up due to it¹s sluggish nature.

The best part about Jungle Disk is that it makes the backup a virtual disk
on your desktop, which you can drag and drop. It also has a full featured
backup software included, but you can use any backup software. The cost of
the software is only $20, plus what you have to pay Amazon monthly. It also
is Mac, Windows and Linux compatible. You get all three for $20, unlimited
machines tied to one Amazon S3 account. They also have a USB drive software
version with all 3 platforms on it, meaning you can use ANYBODYS computer,
pop the USB drive in, and be able to access your Jungle Disk.

I really like the service and I have NO financial connection to the
software.
