[Hidden-tech] Dedicated web server - advice/recommendations?

For managed dedicated hosting I very very very very highly recommend
Rackspace. www.rackspace.com

I've worked with cheaper providers in the past, but with Rackspace we've had
absolutely no network downtime since we've been with them (almost a year
now), and they've been incredibly responsive to our server needs.

The best example... their monitoring picked up an attempt to do a brute
force password attack on our FTP. (It was failing because we only allow
good passwords of course, but that's beside the point here). They called
me on a Saturday afternoon with the notification. I called back at 9:30
Saturday night and was connected to a very knowledgeable technician with no
hold time. The technician spent half an hour with me checking the logs and
making sure there were no other related attacks and checking firewall
settings.

No extra charge.

When I wasn't available, they also talked my partner here through installing
a secure certificate. No wait time during business hours and a very
knowledgeable tech who not only took care of the issue but spent time
teaching him how it worked.

Once again, no extra support charge.

We have full administrative access to the server, so this is all stuff we
could have done ourselves (it was in fact done in a shared Terminal Services
session), but they were really there when we needed them.

They do both Windows and Linux hosting with really first class data centers
in the continental US. (We'll avoid the stories about the US based provider
to remain nameless whose servers were in Puerto Rico and whose support was
in Eastern Europe).

I need to find a provider for a managed, dedicated web server that will
support ASP.NET 2.0 and SQL Server 2005. I only want to focus on installing
and running the ASP.NET app and some very basic site administration - I
would like the provider to handle hardware, OS and application
installation/updates, backups, etc. In other words, I don't want to become
a server admin - just want to put my app up and have it work with minimal
fuss.

There's a rather large universe of providers out there - any
recommendations and/or advice on things to watch (out) for when choosing a
provider would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Chris
