Hi Matt, The easiest way is if you have Quicktime Pro (I think it's still $30). Choose "Export..." in the File menu. That will get you to AIFF. Then Export... again to convert it to Wave. You can also use Garageband. Drag the file from your desktop into Garageband. Then you can tweak the sounds the file plays. Then you can "send to iTunes".
