[Hidden-tech] Web URL hijack

As it happens, The Register has an article today on Verizon's DNS
hijacking, which is being promoted as a service to help people who
mis-type URLs into their browsers. See:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/11/08/verizon_highjacks_web_browsers_on_fios/

There is a link provided to a Verizon page that will allow you to opt
out of what Verizon calls "DNS Assistance" (Verizon's PR department
would certainly give George Orwell a run for the money):
http://netservices.verizon.net/portal/link/help/item?case=dns_assist&partner=verizon&product=fios

or try: http://tinyurl.com/33ju2w

The information is provided as step by step instructions for specific
routers that Verizon provides FIOS customers, but it is easy enough to
get what you need to know out of that.
