[Hidden-tech] Getting a last-minute passport

Irrelevant to the specific question here but do you realize how lucky we are
to live in the United States . . . at least with respect to passports!! In
Canada, where one would think they would be relatively lax about such
things, there are lines right now to get passports going around the block,
lines that people are literally tenting out for like you'd do to get concert
tickets. They simply don't have enough personnel to handle things. And
Canadian passports last only 5 years. And when you renew, you have to go
through the whole process from scratch! And you have to have two signatures
of a registered professional, like an engineer or a doctor who knows you
personally! So . . . small mercies. But shhh. Don't tell anyone in
Washington that the United States is soft on passport issuance!
