Hello tech guru folk...
I have laptop and desktop PCs, both running XP Home. I have several
apps that I want to use on both machines working in the same files.
To do that I need a good strategy for syncing the files to keep them
current on both machines. In effect I want to do what one can do with
a PDA... sync files seamlessly.
I figure I can do it with SyncToy, but could us some help in thinking
through where to keep the files and how to set up and use SyncToy.
I can keep the files in their own folders in MyDocs on each machine
and sync the folders before and after working on any file in the
folder. OR I could used the SharedDocs folder on each
machine. Suggestions? Pitfalls? Best practices?
Also, I've seen a note in XP that I can move MyDocs or any other
folder to another drive by dragging them to the new location. I have
a data drive and would like to have as little as possible on the
System drive. Does that dragging process work and will XP figure out
that these system files have moved?
Thanx for you help and insight.
David
