Please note, our monthly meeting is a week later than normal this month - Tuesday, June 12. Introduction to Windows Workflow Foundation - Chris Bowen - Sponsored by MSDN Magazine Workflow Foundation (WF), a component of the .NET Framework 3.0, enables you to quickly and reliably implement workflows and business rules in your applications. WF provides a framework for constructing sequential and state-machine based workflows for any .NET application or service and includes tools to effectively manage and modify those workflows. In this session, we'll introduce the major concepts and purpose of WF, demonstrate the creation and maintenance of workflows with Visual Studio 2005, and show the potential uses of workflows within your applications. About Chris Bowen Chris is a Developer Evangelist for Microsoft's Northeast district, which includes New England and upstate New York. What does a "Developer Evangelist" do? Well, here is a handy list on Alex Lowe's blog that I adapted here: * Educating customers on .NET development topics * Working with user groups to ensure they get adequate support from Microsoft * Keeping abreast of the next-generation technologies currently in development * Writing reference/sample code for customers * Working with local influentials such as MVPs and RD to ensure they have what they need to be great customer evangelists * Organizing and managing local developer events (such as Code Camps) * Collecting developer feedback related to software development on the Microsoft platform and providing it back to the product teams Chris as spent many years as a participant and contributor to the New England developer community and is excited to be in a role where he can make a large difference for that community. He joined Microsoft having worked as an architect and lead developer at a variety of area companies, including over six years with Monster Worldwide (aka Monster.com) where he was Lead Architect and Director of Application Architecture. He also has worked in senior-level architectural and development positions at VistaPrint in Lexington, MA, Staples in Framingham, and IDX Systems Corporation (now part of GE Healthcare) in Boston. He has also worked as a consultant for a several other New England companies. Chris is a co-author of "Professional Visual Studio 2005 Team System" <http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0764584367> published by WROX in 2006.
