[Hidden-tech] Mac question

It sounds as though either Word or the Browser could be to blame.

I'd suggest first checking the version of Word you are using on that MacBook;

If it is Word [Office 2004] version 11.3, then it is up to date. If it is older

The edit menu does have the paste command, as it works after your 
side trip to Preview.

Check your browser, whichever it is, to be sure it can 'copy' the way 
you expect. I'd suggest trying a 'Control-click' on an image, at 
which point you should have a contextual menu to select "Copy Image".

Perhaps the browser is in part to blame for this perceived non-function?
