[Hidden-tech] web design for the Northampton Survival Center

My take on this has always been that the reason you can't deduct for donated
services is that the potential for fraud is extremely high. If you think
about how much fraud goes on within government contracts already for
services that are billed but never actually performed, just imagine what
would happen if everyone could deduct for "services performed". Every hour
that someone donates to non-profits, from answering phones for a WFCR fund
drive to being an usher at church becomes a potential tax write-off. What's
a fair price to charge and what's the say something is legitimate or not? It
would be chaos as well as a direct gift to organized (and unorganized)
crime.

I'm not saying that donations of services are not worthwhile - I've donated
thousands of hours over the years - I just can't imagine any way that it
could be fairly managed and documented.
