Personally I really like Adobe Premiere. The cost is somewhat prohibitive (700 bucks), but I think for anyone who really likes video editing, this is THE software to get. The software takes a little playing with, but it is relatively easy to use. I've trained my wife in under an hour to use it and she has never had any video experience, yet she is able to build really nice home movies. Then when you are done, it has all the features you need to take your video and burn straight onto DVD.
