I've been sort of following this thread, but just saw this and can offer a couple comments. I visit a couple of renewable energy sites that have forums. One advantage forum software has over a list like ours here is that topics are broken out into separate discussions. i GO to the site if something relating to RE is on my mind, or I want to stay current (frequent). as many of you know, when i reply or start a topic i will hence get emails notifying me of the responses, so i can know i need to go back if i am interested in replies. It's just one reason i personally like forums, separate discussions yet they're all public IF i want to see them. for example if i see a forum post with the title "what do you think of vonage?" i know that i will not be opening that (just as a silly what if mind you). OTOH- i pump all these msgs into a separate folder in tbird like others have mentioned, and i can sort that on subject as well, with a click. there is that manual weekly filtering process though :-). and my other 2cents (I guess I'm at 4 now?): I would think a one time approval for members (however defined) would make "moderation" easier than the current msg by msg approach which surely slows down communication to a level that currently couldn't be used for anything urgent. Or even applying the same principal to this list might work better for the sake of conversational continuity? Granted there will be the occasional offer for viagra, the offender is removed. done. i mean unless theres a hidden tech company dealing in viagra, not that there's anything wrong with that. > */Bobbi Melville <bmelville.pgs at verizon.net>/* wrote: > > interaction.
