[Hidden-tech] FW: [Hidden-announce] Cell phone reception

Welcome Cynthia. A year and a half ago I was new to Western MA. and had he
same question. After researching I found that indeed Verizon had the best
coverage.

The next battle was choosing a phone with the best signal receptivity. An
informal test of about a half-dozen phones left me a little concerned. None
would let me carry on a conversation without hanging out the window, which
got a little old and cold real quick. I talked to a lot of phone store
people about which models had the best reception.

I didn't care about cameras or any other features. That might require
reading a manual. At that time, about a year ago, the Motorola 325 was
recommended several times. I'm happy I bought it. I can talk from many of
the back roads on which many others seem to lose calls.

Verizon also offers GPS on a daily or weekly basis via this model which has
been fun for me. As a former New York City rat, without numbers on the
streets I get lost pretty easily. And the camera works pretty well.

So that's my two cents.

And again, welcome!

Dan

I'm relatively new to Western Mass. and need a cell phone. I'm wondering if
members could share experiences with reception in the area. I see from
consumer reports that Verizon gets a top rating for Boston, but this is
pretty far from Boston.
