I've been down this road a couple of times. I'd put the highest priority on "recovering" the domain name, because starting over with that means everyone who knows the site has to find it again from scratch. It looks like the ownership of the domain name was registered with a company/entity rather than a person, which is a very good thing, because assuming the entity still exists, recovering access to the domain name registration should be relatively easy. Get in touch with the registrar and ask for the procedure. Recovering access to the current hosting company account is nice, but for a non-interactive site like this one appears to be, rebuilding the site is not that hard (if you are familiar with how websites are structured). You can always grab the HTML and other files off the existing site and then re-create it on a new server and just re-direct the domain name. - Bruce -----Original Message----- From: hidden-discuss-bounces at lists.hidden-tech.net [mailto:hidden-discuss-bounces at lists.hidden-tech.net] On Behalf Of Michael Muller Sent: Tuesday, January 09, 2007 2:38 PM To: Anne Campbell; Hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net Subject: Re: [Hidden-tech] Taking over for a deceased webmaster ** The author of this post was a Good Dobee. ** You too can help the group ** Fill out the survey/skills inventory in the member's area. ** If you did, we all thank you. Anne, I would contact the hosting company as well as the registrar and try to get the login info. Usually faxing a letter on letterhead from the owning organization is enough.
