Hi HT'rs,

Speaking as a member of the HT Board, I can promise you that a discussion
along the lines of what Dan describes below will be on our agenda throughout
the year.

I'm pleased by the sheer volume, and quality of the ideas put forth, and
look forward to parlaying them in a way that serves us all. To those of
contributing to this discussion, thanks for your good thinking and sharing.

Be well.

Hey there,

The site was done by a member who does magnificent websites-she's an awesome
designer. Many of us can indeed do outstanding web work. Resources (time
and money) are one of the major issues. But I'd be concerned about starting
in the middle by redesigning a site without clearly defining what the
business goal is.

Some of the issues we'd need to address are- What kind of organization does
Hidden-Tech want to be?
What image do we want to present to the rest of the world?
Do we want to be perceived as a social community or social business network,
the Biznik site model is fantastic.
If we want to market all of us as a business service group, professional
network or organization, other models exist that might better communicate
the group.
Target markets need to be defined.
Search marketing needs are a huge consideration in any design and language
will be critical.
Do we want the site to generate revenue for the group? What about adverting,
collection of data for marketing?
There are other issues as well. Once we better define these then design and
functional requirements can be better determined.

Thanks
Dan

As a newbie to HT, I was surprised to see that the website lacked any punch
given that there are so many members who do websites. As a matter of fact, I
don't think I've ever gone back to the HT website since I became a member.

Has there been any discussions in the past about how best to use the
website? I think this Biznik site is great and could serve as a model for
Hidden Tech.
