It is very straightforward to do. You will need a cable-TV outlet at the point where you want to put the modem. You'll need a modem and a router (though I think these may be available integreated in one box, I don't think I'd recommend that). At the house I'm using an ancient Motorola SB4100 modem and a linksys router, and in the condo I'm both the modem and router are linksys. In the past I've used various routers, but I've settled in on linksys as being a reliable choice. the old standby WRT54G is often available pretty cheaply, is well known to be a stable router, and does everything you need.. It might be useful to invite a techie friend to make sure things go smoothly.. it's at most 15 minutes of work.. ...tom At 01:31 PM 12/4/2007, Daniel Belmont wrote: >Hello All -- > > I am considering getting a comcast internet hookup and I have a > few questions : > >1) how difficult is it to install ? and what is involved ? if I >install it myself I save $150 ... > >2) can you recommend a wireless router that works well with the >comcast hookup ? we are using wireless in my apartment ... also, >what is involved in configuring that ? > >thx, >Dan Belmont
