Hi Lisa and Hidden Techers, I think my answer went just to LIsa the other day...sorry about that. I just spoke to Christopher Smith at Hatfield Printing, and he uses vegetable oil-based acrylic inks, which he says are the best of both worlds...more earth-friendly than petro-based inks, and they dry much faster than other soy inks. I haven't done any research on his topic, but my curiosity is peaked, and I'd like to know more. Chris can be reached at 247-5362. He prints everything from business cards to books, including 4-color. The other fabulous thing is that they had solar panels installed about a year ago, so they are now a solar-powered printing company. How great is that! If anyone has worked with Hatfield Printing, I would love to hear about it. Also, Collective Copies has a good reciprocal relationship with Red Sun Press, in Jamaica Plan, (Boston) and they definitely use soy inks, and are a worker-owned collective.
