Email, no matter what platform CAN NOT have a space in it. Have your friend call their ISP asd ask them what his email address is.

Hi,

I have a friend who is trying out an iBook; mostly he is a Windows
user. So far everything has gone smoothly except for one quirky issue
that I cannot seem to solve. That is that his email username has a
space in it.

On his Win machines, this is handled by using a dot in place of the
space. But in setting up the same email account in Mail on his Intel
iBook, the outgoing mail server will not accept the password for his
username, whereas the incoming mail server has no problem. Thus he
can receive mail, but not send any.

I have tried using a dot, a space, "%20" (without the quotes), and an
underscore in the username where the space occurs. For the incoming
server, the dot works. For the outgoing server, none of them work.
Does anyone know how to handle this?

Frieda
