I have a MacBookPro, 2 Gigs RAM running OS X. I also have Parallels with XP Pro installed. Everything works great. XP runs great but the video is a bit slow (not for gaming). I'm also beta testing Codeweavers Office (Wine for OS X) running windows apps natively. It works ok for most stuff and is getting better quickly. I only use XP for some Java apps used to manage some of my network gear. Everything else is OS X native or run under Codeweavers. If you plan on running 2 OSes at the same time make sure you get a LOT of RAM. -Matt On Sep 11, 2006, at 1:00 PM, Daniel Fried wrote: > ** Be a Good Dobee and help the group, you must be counted to > post . > ** Fill out the survey/skills inventory in the member's area. > > > Peter, > > Not personally (sadly), but I can point you to a review of > Parallels from a > good techie website (there's a Boot Camp review as well there > somewhere). > > http://arstechnica.com/reviews/apps/parallels.ars > > It sounds like it would be just fine for what you're looking for, > unless > your development is for 3-D accelerated software. > > -Dan > > -----Original Message----- > From: hidden-discuss-bounces at lists.hidden-tech.net > [mailto:hidden-discuss-bounces at lists.hidden-tech.net] On Behalf Of > Peter > Hutchins > Sent: Friday, September 08, 2006 9:58 AM > To: Hidden Tech Discussion List > Subject: [Hidden-tech] Intel Macs > > ** Be a Good Dobee and help the group, you must be counted to > post . > ** Fill out the survey/skills inventory in the member's area. > > > Does anyone have any experience running WinXP on an Intel Mac? > > I would like to replace my Dell, which I only use once a week or so. > I primarily work on Mac, but need a computer running WinXP for > proofing site designs and running MS only software, such as FrontPage > and Visual Studio. > > Thanks, > Peter Hutchins > > : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : > : > : : : : > OUT OF THE OFFICE: > September 28 & 29, 2006 > October 27 & 30, 2006 (tentative) > November 23 & 24, 2006 > > Peter Hutchins - Litmus Designs > 10 Dewey Ct, Northampton, MA 01060 > 413.582.7038 > www.litmusdesigns.com > > web design, custom programming & graphic design > : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : > : > : : : : > > > _______________________________________________ > Hidden-discuss mailing list - home page: http://www.hidden-tech.net > Hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net > > You are receiving this because you are on the Hidden-Tech > Discussion list. > If you would like to change your list preferences, Go to the Members > page on the Hidden Tech Web site. > http://www.hidden-tech.net/members > > _______________________________________________ > Hidden-discuss mailing list - home page: http://www.hidden-tech.net > Hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net > > You are receiving this because you are on the Hidden-Tech > Discussion list. > If you would like to change your list preferences, Go to the Members > page on the Hidden Tech Web site. > http://www.hidden-tech.net/members -- Matthew S.
