[Hidden-tech] Dominion for home electric service?

We once purchased power through Dominion. One thing I didn't like is a fairly high proportion of their generating capacity (at the time, a few years ago) was nuclear.

Also, if you switch away from your current provider, then change your mind and switch back, you might get a worse rate. This happened to us with WMECO.

  Hi all,

We just got a mailing from a company called Dominion, asking us to switch our electric service from WMECO to them. They're offering a rate that's 20% less than WMECO, good through the end of the year, and they say that next year's rates will depend on what WMECO's are.

I'm interested in the savings, but I'm doubtful about giving over something as important as electric service to an unknown company. Does anyone have experience working with them, or with any other private electricity provider? We've had one or two other mailings like this in the past.

  Thanks very much -
  Anne
