[Hidden-tech] Comcast v. Verizon

Hi
I had an awful experience with Verizon when I moved earlier this year. I had
been a Verizon customer for over 2 years, and I was told that there "were no
connections available" in Greenfield (I was moving from one location to
another in town). So, on moving day when the Comcast installer was drilling
holes through the walls of my house to run cable for broadband, Verizon
called and told me that I could have DSL after all! I told the fellow that I
was having Comcast installed because I could not be without high speed
internet, and he literally pulled the plug! I lost emails that I had not
downloaded because of the move, which is NOT a good thing for business! When
I called to complain, I was told that the technician should not have done
that, but that it could not be undone. So, I pulled my phone and went cable
with that also.

I also help people who have converted to DSL set it up, and I must say that
the tech support that you receive from Verizon is inconsistent. Comcast has
much better tech support.

I have no direct experience with Crocker for DSL, but they do host some web
sites for me, and their tech support is great! So, you should probably check
them out also.

Not to sound like a commercial, but before you sign up with Verizon, check
out Crocker Communications DSL - they have better service, more consistent
speeds and less hassle/beaurocracy than dealing with Verizon. I think the
prices are pretty close, too.
