If performance really matters to you I can help with the
non-filemaker stuff.  Please contact me off list.

However, I expect a Perl Monk like Rich would be more
appropriate, as your app is basic text processing.

Other places to look for good hackers:

    - the local .NET user group (you know those folks)

    - the five-colleges Linux user groups (you might get lucky
      and find a really sharp student)

    - recommendations from comp-sci professors at colleges
      (ditto)

If this is going to be Free Software, another approach is to find
the author of a related library (libxml2 or libxslt for example)
and send a note to the author inquiring if they are interested in
contract work.  Most likely you will get a "no," but if you score
you can be confident you will get high-quality code.  Some
authors might even write proprietary code for a price, although
the good ones can find enough work writing Free Software.

I think there is a local filemaker pro expert, but his name
escapes me at the moment ...

If all else fails, find someone in Bulgaria or Ukraine.  ;)
